Haku Baldwin Center is pleased to introduce our new logo!
Our founder, Harriet “Haku” D. Baldwin, offered the first adaptive riding lessons on Maui back in the early 1970s. In Haku’s own words: “I was inspired to start a Therapeutic Riding Program when I saw how much joy being on a horse brought a young disabled acquaintance of mine. It was from his insistence, enthusiasm and desire to ride, that I saw how much an opportunity to ride horses could mean to children like him. I hoped someday to be able to share this experience with other children.”
Haku Baldwin Center continues to offer a range of equine-assisted services today as we honor Haku’s mission in serving the community. In developing our vision for the future, we honor our past and a rich history of facilitating human-animal connection for joy and healing. Our new logo reflects this vision.
